Product Details:

• Glanvac 6 provides goats with protection against cheesy gland and the main clostridial diseases.
• The prevention of cheesy gland in goat herds improves fibre production and increases the quality of goat meat.

Approved Uses:

• For the control of caseous lymphadenitis (cheesy gland);
• Prevention of enterotoxaemia (pulpy kidney disease), prevention of tetanus, prevention of black disease, prevention of malignant oedema (blackleg-like disease), prevention of blackleg in goats and kids.
• Goats do not commonly suffer from clostridial diseases other than tetanus and enterotoxaemia; use Glanvac® 3 unless these diseases are known to occur in goats on the property.

Dose Rate:

Dose rate: 1mL for all classes of sheep

Injection site: subcutaneously in the side of the neck just behind or below the base of the ear.

Kids need 2 doses:

• First ‘priming’ dose at marking;
• Second ‘booster’ dose at weaning

Previously unvaccinated does need 2 doses:

• First ‘priming’ dose at the time of joining;
• Second ‘booster’ dose approximately 4 weeks before the expected date of kidding

Other previously unvaccinated goats need 2 doses:

• First ‘priming’ dose
• Second ‘booster’ dose approximately 4 weeks after

Previously vaccinated goats need ‘annual booster’ vaccinations:

• For does vaccinate 4 weeks before the expected date of kidding.
• This should pass temporary immunity to their kids in the colostrum, or first milk, to protect them for the first 6 to 8 weeks of their lives.

Where possible give the annual booster at least 2 weeks prior to the time of maximum risk, e.g. transfer to lush pasture or grain feeding in the case of enterotoxaemia.

Glanvac can be stored and used for up to 30 days after first opening:

• On each subsequent reuse, swab the opening with a suitable disinfectant (for example, methylated spirits) both before and after using.

A sterile needle must be used each time product is removed.

Localised swelling may develop at the site of the injection and a firm nodular lump may persist for some weeks or even months.

Cases have been recorded of goats developing signs of anaphylactoid shock shortly after vaccination. This is believed to be due to protein sensitisation as a result of previous vaccination. This vaccine has been prepared in a manner which will reduce the risk as far as possible. Nevertheless, observe valuable animals closely for 1 hour after vaccination; obtain veterinary assistance immediately if signs of shock become evident.

Disposal: 

Dispose of empty containers by wrapping in paper and putting in garbage. Discarded needles should immediately be placed in a designated and appropriately labelled ‘sharps’ container. Incineration is the preferred method of disposal.

Storage Recommendations:

Store between 2°C and 8°C (Refrigerate. Do not freeze). Protect from light.

Take care to avoid accidental self-injection

This product contains mineral oil. In the event of self- injection, seek prompt medical attention and take this package leaflet/ carton with you. Accidental self-injection may result in local bruising, severe pain and swelling, particularly if injected into a joint or finger, and in rare cases could result in the loss of the affected finger if prompt medical attention is not given. If pain persists for more than 12 hours after medical examination, seek medical advice again.

IMPORTANT USER SAFETY INFORMATION

Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and skin as the vaccine may be an irritant. Wash hands thoroughly after using soap and water, especially if the vaccine contacts the skin. If vaccine gets in the eyes or mouth rinse the exposed area thoroughly with tap water.
